Love in the time of cholera
"His examination revealed that he had no fever, no pain anywhere, and that his only concrete feeling was an urgent desire to die. All that was needed was shrewd questioning...to conclude once again that the symptoms of love were the same as those of cholera."
~Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I am writing this while lying on my couch at 2:04AM. This beautiful sad book lying on my stomach, whose last 10 pages i just devoured, which i have been saving since afternoon.
This is one of those books i did not wanted to end. A melancholic love story about a couple who fell in cholera. Although calling it a love story is a disgrace. Because its a story about love. How love knows no bounds and rules.
For a guy who never fell in love ever. This book made me feel so many things and changed my perception about love.
Marquez put so much detail into this book that it felt liked a whole century have been passed since i picked the book. The characters will stay with me for a long time for sure. Gabo knows this unique way of story telling which make him the best.
Where he not only write a plot or characters. He write about time and it's effect on people. He make you feel like you exist in the story and it's part of you.
For a novel with so mich description i never find it dragging with an exception a single portion of a chapter. Which is forgettable as the other parts made this book unputdownable. And this strange thing happened to me. All the love songs i have listened till now has passed through my mind while reading it.
Also the metaphors, used in this book are so enchanting.
Gabo is hands down best story-teller.
